Playlist: Escaping Winter
This playlist attempts to recreate the feeling of starting a new adventure, knowing you have days, weeks, or even months of nonstop exciting experiences ahead of you. One of the best feelings in the world!
When we left on our longest trip yet, we flew to New Zealand first, leaving behind winter in Colorado for summer in the southern hemisphere. We arrived at around 7 in the morning on a beautiful Auckland day, and it really hit us for the first time when we got a ride from the airport to our Airbnb—staring eyes wide at the unfamiliar foliage, rugby practices on wide open lawns, and people out for their morning jogs on the gorgeous sunny morning. We were dead tired, but filled with excitement for all the exploring we’d do in the coming months. You can see the full overview of our two-week New Zealand road trip here.
This playlist is filled with artists we don’t dive deep into very often, but songs that capture the pure joy of escaping the cold, monotony, and routine of everyday life for the warmth, sunshine, and endless opportunity of a new place.
